The Virtues of the Month of Rajab

Rajab is one of the four sacred months mentioned in the Quran

Allah says: Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them.” (Surah At-Tawbah: 36)

  • This blessed month is a time when “good deeds are magnified” and sins are strongly discouraged. It’s a reminder to turn our hearts back to Allah, reflect on our actions.
  • Isra wal-Mi’raj; On the 27th of Rajab, we remember the miraculous night journey of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This journey reminds us of Allah’s infinite mercy and the gift of prayer.
  • Preparing for Ramadan; Rajab is like the opening chapter of a spiritual season leading to Ramadan. It’s a gentle call to start cleansing our hearts, increasing our good deeds, and renewing our faith.

Important Reminder:

While Rajab is sacred, it’s essential to note that there are “no authentic hadiths” specifying extra fasting or prayers exclusively for this month. However, fasting as part of regular practices (like Mondays, Thursdays, or the White Days) is always encouraged.

Let’s make the most of Rajab by seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiving others, and setting our hearts on the path to Ramadan.
